5530 can record DVD quality videos at 30 fps!
In the Nokia 5530 review i told you that 5530 can record mediocre quality videos with maximum resolution of 176×220 at 15 frames per second, which is not true. I just passed the information from Nokia’s official website which gave those figures in their specification sheet.
So, now you can take a sigh of relief as the 5530 camera can take equally good photos and videos as 5800.
I found this today through Gsmarena. You can check the video quality by downloading the video sample given below-

The other important points that i noted through Gsmarena review are -
- Nokia 5530 lacks TV Output. So, no connectivity cable in the sales package.I don’t think you will miss this feature as 5530 itself has a quite big high resolution display.
- 5530 user interface is more improved with better touch sensitivity than 5800.
- 5530 is much more compact than 5800.It’s body volume is 20% lesser than 5800 which makes single handed operation quite easy.
- Better audio quality than 5800 through speakers and headphones. Thanks to the front stereo speakers and noise isolating earphones in the sales package.
- By flipping the handset upside down you can activate silent mode and snooze the alarm.
- More improved web browser with kinetic scrolling and support for multiple windows.
Things i didn’t like in Gsmarena review -
- No charging through USB Cable – This issue is not 5530 specific, none of the Nokia phones are capable of charging through Data Cable.
- No out of the box Xvid(.avi) support – This can be easily achieved through a 3rd party software such as Smartmovie or Core codec player. Moreover, Core codec player supports many more video formats along with avi.
- Poor Video recording through Camera – What can you expect from a handset priced below $300, HD quality video recording?Common guys no other smartphone offers VGA recording at 30 fps in this price range. And the quality is not that bad.
- Comparison with non-smartphones – 5530 doesn’t deserve a comparison with non-smartphones such as Samsung Star or LG Viewty. They are cheaper than 5530 but a smartphone with Symbian operating system is leaps ahead of those cheaper alternatives.

Hello, I like this blog, is very useful.
By the way, there is one Nokia phone that charges via USB cable and is my N85 cell, and I think there’s one more XM unit that can do that too.
Keep up the good work.
