Nokia 5530 Potential – Things you can do with your Symbian S60 Smartphone

I have written this post for those who are new to Symbian smartphones. There are many people out there who buy smartphone but don’t realize its potential. They use their smartphone mainly for – basic phone functions and multimedia features.
You will be surprised to know that your smartphone is capable of much more than that.Symbian Operating system offers PC like functionality to a cellphone and thats why we call it a smartphone.
Symbian S60

Nokia 5530 Smartphone -

Now, what are the things that you generally do on your PC – Listening to music, Watching Movies,  Playing Games, Using MS Office for viewing and editing word, excel and powerpoint documents, Web browsing, Voice chat, Video chat, Torrent downloads etc.

These tasks, and even more can be performed through a Symbian S60 smartphone. There are huge number of 3rd party Symbian applications which can perform any task just like your Windows operating System.

Below are the few S60v3 applications that i mostly use with my Nokia N82-

Core Codec Player - A standalone multimedia player which can play almost all popular video as well as audio formats.Through Core Codec Player I play DVD Rip movies without conversion on my N82.

Xplore - An excellent file manager similar to Windows Explorer through which you can do anything with your files such as cut-copy-paste-rename etc.You can also extract Rar and Zip files.

Skyfire - A complete Web Browser which can display web pages in the actual format with Flash, JavaScript, pop-ups, as well as tab support.

Game Emulators - There are lot of Game Emulators for Symbian such as Gameboy, SNES, Sega etc through which you can play all your classic video games on your smartphone.

Symtorrent - Symtorrent works in a similar fashion as Bittorrent on PC, for downloading movies, music etc.

Dictionary - There are lot of dictionaries including the popular ones such as Oxford etc. SlovoEd dictionary can also pronounce a word.

These are just a few to give you the feel of Symbian, the list is endless.New applications keep on releasing every few days. There are thousands of application for Symbain S60v3.

Nokia 5530 belongs to Symbian S60v5. As it is new, there are not many applications in comparison to S60v3 but new softwares keep on releasing on a regular basis.Lots of applications are already available for S60v5.
