Nokia 5530 Secret Codes
If you are new to Nokia smartphone you may be unaware of these useful secret codes available in your 5530 XpressMusic. Just by pressing few keys on your phone’s virtual keyboard you can retrieve quite useful information.
Nokia 5530 Secret Codes -
*#0000# - Entering this code gives the firmware version of your phone’s software.Check your firmware version and make sure that you have the latest updated firmware.Newer firmware is made in order to rectify bugs and provide new features.
*#06# - IMEI(International Mobile Equipment Identity)Number – IMEI number is like Finger print.Each mobile phone has a unique IMEI number.
*#7780# - This code restores the original factory settings without affecting any of your files.It is also called soft reset.
*#7370# - This code will completely format your phone deleting all your files.It will take your software to the same state, as you first received your phone.Use this code only if something wrong happens with your phone’s software like virus attack.It is also called hard reset.
*#2820# – This code tells your device’s bluetooth ID.It can be used for manually adding bluetooth devices.
*#62209526# - Shows MAC address of the WLAN adapter.This will be useful while connecting to internet through your phone’s Wifi connection.
*#92702689# – Life Timer – Shows total call minutes since very first call.

My web browser doesn’t open any more, I click over the browser link and does nothing, I’ve tried to open it for menu, quick access, wifi connector etc.. it does the same … I’ve tried soft reset and it still doesn’t work do you recommend hard reset ?? will I lose all my contacts info?

First take backup of your phone memory to memory card before doing hard reset.

So what can you do if the virtual keyboard refuses to appear onscreen when you press the “telephone” button? The 4 x shortcut touch areas are now blank and when u click on them, nothing happens. heeeelp!

Same problem as mark. I’ve tried to reset to factory settings in the phone menu. Doesn’t seem to have done much. Phone is going back as soon as I can wipe it. I hope Nokia sort the problems out, because I really like it apart from the (multiple) glitches

i done a soft reset on the nokia 5530 and now when i turn it on i cant click anything, i click the menu button in the middle and it claims the phone is locked, so went i push down the unlock button it says the same, WTF?

The same as Mark, can’t press telephone button, but also quick app launcher dissapear and cant see my contacts. I soft reset with no success turn off an on, erase from my computer memory card and internal memory (without any change).

I had the same problem but u can access the touchpad phone through your contacts lists: just call someone randomly but don’t give it the change to connect. end the call and if your lucky the phone appears. I don’t know why but it doesn’t work every time i’ve tried to find what it is that’s doing this but i can’t put my finger on it :p (lame joke
made it unintentionally). But if you can get the touchpad u can simply type in the hard reset code which is above and i’m too lazy to scroll all the way up to type it here for you. And the hard reset made the two buttons on my home screen (contacts and telephone) work again. If the touchpad seems to disappear whithout you doing something don’t worry cause it’s in your applications shortcut thingy. Sorry for the way too long explanation since i’m not sure it’ll work for everybody but it worked with my cell so… I found it by just messin around with the contacts a little press this butten there and that one there and then sometimes a touchpad popped right out.

My nokia 5530 is dead. I tried to update the fameware via Nokia Software Updater. Although after completion the nokia software showed updated successfully. But when I tried to open it didn’t work.

I think u should upgrade firmware to newer, so the 5530 come fresh new again.
I had a same problem. After rebooting my 5530, the phone cant make a new profile..if it tried more, the phone will switched off or get hang. So i come to NOKIA CARE, n get reinstall 4 about 2 hr..and everythng is coming back like a new, “without any cost”
i am updating my nokia 5530 to v20 as we speak. and so far so good the only problems i have had with my nokia 5530 is the usb cover has fell off just laeving the rubber strap that connects the cover to the phone.

Hi there… My problem on updating my 5530xm is the installation itself.. I always encounter disconnection on my phone to my pc whenever I start the installation update… But the instructions says “do not bother on the disconnection notification of the pc”… And end up into a device recovery… I could not update my phone… Could someone help??

Whoa. Sounds like you guys are having hell with your 5530′s. Ive only had one Massive problem and that was the missing home screen buttons bug which was resolved by using the hard reset. To access the numeric keypad You have to press the middle (White) menu button then press the “Green” call button then enter *#7370#. This is the Hard reset so take out your memory card out of your phone before doing so but do not back up as it might back up the bug as well.
Hope you guys have luck. And upgrade to the newest firmware Asap.
I updated my phone through Menu>Settings>Phone>Pone Mgmt.>Device Updates>Options>check for Updates.

argh! my 5530 was working perfectly for a few months.
all of a sudden, certain applications such as the internet and ovi stopped working.
i tried the soft and hard restore factory settings, but the 12345 code does not work :S
i tried to remove the memory card and restart, did not work.
and i updated to the newest firmware – via my pc, still no change

maybe the phone cant handle too much applications and content on it.
but since i often encounter this problem,i frequently hard reset my phone
yet my application were not totally affected because i installed it in my memory card..
i often encounter my shortcuts were not working anymore,

Switch it off,remove the memory card and then switch it on.It works for me.

I am unable to update my Nokia 5530 using the Software Updater app in ‘Applications’. It is showing that I need to download the latest phone software which I presume to be the latest Firmware, however when I click ‘Start Update’ nothing happens.
When I attempt to update other pieces of software i.e. nokia messenger, OVI, using the same method the software downloads perfectly.
Any ideas??

i cannot open ovi store, nor go onto the internet. i have a perfect connection to the internet, if i click ‘web’ or ‘ovi store’ my phone instantly has a black screen for around 3seconds.

I updated my 5530 with the V 30.0.009 and the phone dies when I attempt to make a call or when I answer a call. It was working perfectly until Nokia sent me the “update”. Does anyone know if it is possible to undo an updade?
My 5530 had the restarting issue since the Day 1.
Actually, it did that while I was in the store and haven’t even left home. I got used to it, but it makes me very angry at times.
It never restarts during calls, only when I send SMS.
After about 5th-6th SMS, delivery report is about to arrive and phone reboots. Not necessarily tied to reports, but I have nothing else to suspect.
I haven’t turned them off yet to try if this is the problem, but will do it just now.
Telephone arrived with F/W v20.0.000 I believe, and was then updated to v30 and now to v31.0.005. Nothing changed, only the home screen contact bar is more annoying than it was :/
By the way, I haven’t tried hard reset. I need some psychological preparation beforehand in case it all goes down to hell.

Is there an alternate method for the hard reset for the 5530 Xpressmusic as I have the screen lock problem that people describe so cannot call up the dialler, and the green key/red key/camera key method does not appear to work?

Have you checked if (computer) software has the option of restoring your phone to factory defaults? If it has, you can do that and then hit the dialer for the phone hard reset.
Six – thanks for the reply but when I connect via USB to a PC the phone is not being “seen”. It think this has something to do with the screen being locked at all times!

My home screen has started refreshing over and over. I can’t open anything because it goes right back to the main screen when I do. I have tried everything to make it stop even restoring it to the factory setting which took awhile because I had to press the buttons repeatedly to do it because of the refreshing. Well, I had a problem, that after the memory card formation, my phone kept saying there are already those apps on my phne that i wanted to reinstall, even though i didn’t have a memory card in. So i hard reseted it, now it’s all fine.

I have problem with 5530. When someone calls me, or i call, i can’t answer till i unlock phone. The same thing is with alarm, I can’t stop it until I unloc it.
5530 XpressMusic problem, troubleshoot, SOLVED. It’s a memory card error. Put the card in a memory card reader and connect to a pc or laptop then right click and properties and disk check and check fix for errors and scan for bad sectors, after that click remove card eject from pc/laptop and put it in phone and start phone. This should work (at least it worked for me). The dial-up pad can be access if you hold the middle touch button of the phone until all running programs are running and then pres green dial button. or access the menu, settings, phone, phone mgmt., factory settings, code 12345 and that’s it. I think you have to do only the memory card check. THIS WILL WORK. Hope that this will help a lot of Nokia fans.

My 5530 turns off when making and receiving calls. Txt is fine and all the other functions are too.
Sorry for those who shared my problem, but this is a hardware malfunction. I tried all the resets, battery changing, with/without the SIM/Memory cards, different SIM card, update software. NOTHING worked. Took it to the Nokia store to the guy who sold it to me, he is very knowledgeable about Nokia phones, he couldn’t help either. Now my phone is on the Nokia Care Shop for repair and it will cost me about 80 USD to fix.

My 5530 phone wont let me ring out , i can recieve calls and Text , but if i want to ring someone it wont let me , it says “Emergency calls only” which stinks , I know it aint my sim card , cause my sim works fine on other mobiles , Can someone help me PLEASE , thanx

i have not been able to use my ‘GREEN’ button for quite long now. Any suggestion about this. And another thing is that my phone have this green and blue spot light and only visible when is on black screen. Any method to resolved these problems. Thank you so much. P.s if possible i dont want to get rid of any files and harm my phone and prone to virus.
