I now think I know the real problem. I think the phone is stuck in “offline” mode. Any clues????????????????

Six – thanks for the reply but when I connect via USB to a PC the phone is not being “seen”. It think this has something to do with the screen being locked at all times!

Have you checked if (computer) software has the option of restoring your phone to factory defaults? If it has, you can do that and then hit the dialer for the phone hard reset.

Is there an alternate method for the hard reset for the 5530 Xpressmusic as I have the screen lock problem that people describe so cannot call up the dialler, and the green key/red key/camera key method does not appear to work?

My 5530 had the restarting issue since the Day 1.
Actually, it did that while I was in the store and haven’t even left home. I got used to it, but it makes me very angry at times.

It never restarts during calls, only when I send SMS.
After about 5th-6th SMS, delivery report is about to arrive and phone reboots. Not necessarily tied to reports, but I have nothing else to suspect.
I haven’t turned them off yet to try if this is the problem, but will do it just now.

Telephone arrived with F/W v20.0.000 I believe, and was then updated to v30 and now to v31.0.005. Nothing changed, only the home screen contact bar is more annoying than it was :/

By the way, I haven’t tried hard reset. I need some psychological preparation beforehand in case it all goes down to hell.

I updated my 5530 with the V 30.0.009 and the phone dies when I attempt to make a call or when I answer a call. It was working perfectly until Nokia sent me the “update”. Does anyone know if it is possible to undo an updade?

I have tried the code restored *#7780# but the divice screen display that I have to finish first all calls and internet connection. This is perhaps that I have finished at half the 31.0.005 version of the update and cannot continue to download. If someone can help me how to deal with, it’ll be very kind, thanks.
