I checked my local dealer and he told me that it is expected next week.

It looks like Nokia is doing injustice to India by not releasing this phone for sales. I don’t know what kind of marketing strategy it has when it can release this phone in all other countries but not here.

I’ve done quiet a bit research on nokia 5530 and 5800. I was confused about which is the best? I think it’s 5800. By any chance, If you have read the 1ast paragraph on this page, you will find a draw back of nokia 5530. It states that there is no 3G and GPS feature available in 5530. That means you cannot use this mobile Incase you travel abroad in future. It doesn’t matter how many features it has when the mobile itself doesn’t work if you are out of india. I suggest to prefer 5800 to 5530. This may sound bizzare as every one knows that 5800 is expensive but at the same time one should think about the enhanced features, technology and the durability. 5800 is long lasting.. Technology keeps enhancing. So, if you are planning to buy a mobile with enhanced features with unique style, then go for 5800 instead of 5530. I’m gonna buy 5800 it soon.

It now almost confirmed that Nokia will NOT release this phone in India in near future. Even the Nokia dealers have no clue about this phone release date.
In Nokia.co.in for Diwali offers Nokia 5530 phone is not included but all the other phones are included.

Nokia has no plan to release this phone in Indian markets. I had called several Nokia priority dealers and Nokia concept stores to find out this and no one has any clue about the release date.
Nokia should justify this delay by fixing all the issues with its 5530 phone before it is released in India.
I had checked many websites from around the world and found that there are several software and hardware issues.
Software issues can be fixed by the release of latest firmware. But hardware issue like wobbly back panel and battery should need serious consideration by Nokia. No one will like to stick tapes around the battery or back panel so they can be prevented from falling.

I have tried calling Nokia support and emailing them and even posted in Nokia forums…there is no answer from any one.
I wanted to know if they plan to release during Christmas or New Year. So, that I can replace my old Nokia phone.
Just got this amazing piece of innovation from UK. Still to be launched in India, I guess 5530 XM would be a deal to wait and watch. It has almost all the features of 5800. Just the camera doesn’t have Carl Zeiss, No 3G or GPS. But apart from that the phone has an amazing touch flow, excellent wifi/wlan connectivity, 128 MB RAM to go with an ARM Processor. The design is quite attractive and the form factor is sligtly lesser compared to the 5800 which adds to the portability of the device. Easy to carry and packed with all one needs from a touch screen. I have been using it now for over 2 weeks, and believe me, I hardy have used the stylus. The touch sensitivity is amazing. Also the in built dual speakers are one of the best in class. The camera here seems to be a bit of a compromise, which could have been better. I installed many applications available online and they all seemed to have seamlessly worked with the device. Overall, a nice phone with all the necessary features.
PS : If you are wishing to buy 5800 in near future, just wait for this device to be launched and you might want to re-consider.

gr8 phone. works very well in USA. For internet we prefer wifi as its available almost everywhere in US where we go and its free. 3g is good but we don’t need it due 2 wifi

I got an update from Nokia Officials that Nokia 5530 will be launched in India by the 2nd week of January 2010 after fixing all bugs in it. Lets wait and see.

I called up Nokia concept store about this phone, the guy said it will take another 2-3 weeks. It looks like Nokia wants to clear of its 5800 stock or they are still fixing bugs in this phone.

Kolkata: Nokia is betting big on the touch interface in 2010, starting the year with the launch of Nokia 5230 and 5530 XpressMusic. “In 2010, there will be a great deal of activity in the touch portfolio of Nokia. The company is focused on taking the touch experience to the masses by launching new solutions at competitive price points,” said Viral Oza, head-activation, media & online marketing, at the launch in the city on Wednesday.
By 2012, 40% of the mobile devices will incorporate touch interface, according to the company. Nokia 5230 is priced at Rs 9,389 and 5530 XpressMusic at Rs 14,029. Oza hinted at touch devices at a lower price range as well in the future, but declined to give details.

I received an email from Nokia top official sometime before and he says there is further delay in release of this phone in India and he does not say when exactly it will be released here.
Now it is confirmed that Nokia was conducting all their press meet only to create hype in the consumer mind and trying to fool them with their false announcements.
The latest update that I got from Nokia official is that this phone may be available(?) during the 2nd week of Feb 2010 and he is not ready to confirm the release date which is very sad.
I am wondering why did Nokia officials conduct press meets in various cities about introducing this phone when they itself don’t have any idea about its availability in the market. I thought Nokia is a reputable brand but the way things go, its officials seem to lead customers with wrong information.

I just got a call from one of the Nokia distributor that Nokia 5530 is launched in Bangalore today. He said it will cost around Rs.13,000/-.
