Nokia 5530 XpressMusic vs Apple iphone 3GS
Whenever, we talk of a Touchscreen smartphone the first thought that comes to everyone’s mind is how is it in comparison to Apple iphone. So, i thought why not compare Nokia 5530 XpressMusic with Apple iphone 3GS.
We all know that Nokia 5530 is an entry level touchscreen smartphone whereas iphone 3GS belongs to high end category.So, their comparison is completely unfair.Taking this into account,instead of considering each and every feature i will mainly concentrate on advantages of Nokia 5530 over iphone 3GS.

Advantages of Nokia 5530 over iPhone 3GS -
- Nokia 5530 is more compact and lightweight as compared to iphone 3GS.
- 5530 has 360×640 Pixels, higher resolution display in comparison to 320×480 pixels iphone 3GS display.
- iphone 3GS has the same 3.2 MP camera as Nokia 5530,but without flash.You won’t be able to take quality pictures at night with iphone.
- 5530 XpressMusic has Stereo Speakers with Surround Sound whereas iphone has Mono speakers.
- The biggest disadvantage of iphone 3GS is that it lacks multitasking.Now how can we call it a smartphone if it cannot run even more than one application at a time.
- File Transfer through Bluetooth is not possible in iphone 3GS.Bluetooth is merely for the purpose of using Bluetooth Headset.
- iphone 3GS doesn’t support Flash in Web Browser.
- No Memory card Slot in iphone 3GS.You cannot expand the phone memory.
- No FM.While 5530 XpressMusic has Stereo FM, iphone 3GS doesn’t have even Mono FM.
- Many users are reporting overheating problem with iphone 3GS.

I have the 5530 and it is freakin insane!! typing is somuch easier than the iPhone3GS and the sound clarity is awsome. And yea the Multitasking is so useful.. i’ve used the 3GS and apart from the build quality of the 3GS i dont see why it is better. It is somuch smaller and lighter too!!
I agree on the advantages you mentioned above of the Nokia 5530 Xpressmusic over the iPhone 3GS. I also think that the iPhone 3GS has advantages over the 5530. I like the 5530′s screen, compact size, and how I can watch videos and movies in it like the iPhone 3GS

I think the the Nokia will be a huge success, I have had two iPhones and both had a problem where they keep crashing and that is very frustrating, in all honesty I did fill it up with apps thou so it really slow it down. Nokia has had great reviews so I might get one of those.

I heard Iphone has battery life issue. I have seen my friends most of the time keeping it for charging rather than keeping it with them.
Iphone GS have 3G connection, GPS, multi-touch screen, faster processor, great OS, and more….But I prefer the 5530 =)
There are several nice advantages of 5530 over iphone, but the biggest disadvantage that kind offsets all of them is the lack of wifi.
Never mind that, it seems to have wifi.

I called up Nokia concept store about this phone, the guy said it will take another 2-3 weeks. It looks like Nokia wants to clear of its 5800 stock or they are still fixing bugs in this phone before it releases this phone in India.
I agree the advantages that 5530 over iphone. Iphone is so expensive. A camera without flash is rubbish in dark place. Iphone lack of many useful functions like bluetooth and FM. How to send files between phone and we have to bring the big radio in house if want to go out??? As conclusion, iphone is expensive and no very useful because lack of some functions. I would recommend to buy 5530 because it really better than iphone!!!
I have 5530 with me rite now… friend purchased it in U.S for me for a price of 145 dollar on black friday. The most of the features are same as iphone moreover it is really better than iphone
This phone is still not available in India and not even Nokia officials know the exact date. Even if they know they will not tell because it looks like either Nokia is not able to fix the bugs in this phone or it wants to clear Nokia 5800 stock and wanted to sell this phone at a higher cost.
This phone is available in International market very less than the price quoted for Indian market. Anyone can check in Nokia US or Europe online store.
I am sure that Nokia marketing managers know that Indian customers are not idiots to buy this phone at cost which equal to 5800.
I received an email from Nokia top official sometime before and he says there is further delay in release of Nokia 5530 in India and he does not say when exactly it will be released here.
Now it is confirmed that Nokia was conducting all their press meet only to create hype in the consumer mind and trying to fool them with their false announcements.
This phone is nice, but it suffers from all of the issues other s60v5 phones have, sometimes slow, boring UI, bad firmware support. Still a great phone, and with Flash 10 beta coming to Symbian very shortly, it’s amazing. Opera Mobile beta 2 is great as well.
I would rather have this over the iPhone any day, iPhone ain’t even a smart phone, no multitasking. No multitasking = no smartphone.
I have the games edition and lost my preloaded games after a hard reset. Does anyone know how to recover them?
I’ve been e-mailing Nokia back and forth for a month, and just NOW they are saying their 5530s come with 2 or 3 games. I had to e-mail them AGAIN, stating that there is a product called the GAMES EDITION.

Hello all…I am currently using 5530 Xpressmusic and I must say it is quite compact with good features. I bought it for SAR 790 that shoudl be around less than 10K in INR. Im sure in India it should be more than that can see admin quoting 13K-14K. However I advise everyone to look for e-deals. Good Luck and enjoy once you own it. cheers

You have to own one to really appreciate what this great gadget is all about.
And to compare such a “shaky” toy as a the 5530 to the iphone is the biggest joke !

The iphone is a phone, an ipod, a portable gaming gadget and an internet browser(the best in phone browsers).
In other words, it’s a mini-laptop, not a smartphone:)

but out of nowhere it crashed and nokia will not repair it so the i purchased the 3gs for 610 euro well worth it

Yes, iPhone is a well designed piece of hardware… But the versatility of Symbian (multitask, screen resolution, file transfer, number and quality of existing applications, and PRICE) are a huge collection of unbeatable arguments to explain WHY NOT TO BUY AN IPHONE INSTEAD A 5530. I am NOT a Nokia lover, and neither an Apple prosecutor: I’m just a reasonable consumer who looks for something REALLY GOOD for the FAIR PRICE. iPhone is for Playboys (more of fan’s jewelry than a nerd gadget). And sorry for my bad English. Hope I made myself understandable.

Well, this made up my mind, I’m going right away to buy my own Nokia 5530, I was thinking about it for some time now (two week perhaps) and now I can finally say I choose nokia!
Stupid comparison, simply biassed in favor of Nokia’s phone. How about the Nokia 5530 phone being dificult to read in sunlight ?, its just not there. how about the lack of 3G and GPS of Nokia’s phone which the iPhone does have ? how about typing on the nokia phone being simply a nightmare in comparison to the iPhone ? how about the beautiful and snappy feel of the iphone’s interface in comparison to a dark ugly and very dated interface of the Nokia phone ? as far as i can see it is not mentioned there. Hey i was here to find a reason for buying iphone, but sorry Apple i could’nt, I have a nokia 5530 XpressMusic and i love it , just as i love my Winsows OS compared to Mac, because it provides much facilities compared to apple with lower cost, i will be called crazy i will be called crazy if i buy an iphone 4 its newest model for 1100 USD,

iPhone Greatest advantages:
higher processor (better for gaming, faster scrolling)
higher internal memory
with GPS (better for surfing)
iPhone DISADVANTAGES:
once the battery, cover(housing) or anything inside gets defective, it’ll be a big problem. since you cannot SIMPLY open it.
APPS are not THAT free, the UI cannot be changed FOREVER.

ALMOST everything is customizable. I used to try iPhone UI and now I am using the Android UI. so 5530 TRANSFORMS.
it’s apps are nice. the cover, battery, earphones; all accesories are available anywhere at a good price.
