Nokia 5800 Gets Firmware Update v31.0.008 – Still lacks Kinetic Scrolling
Since the launch of Nokia 5530 it is rumored that 5800 will get kinetic scrolling with firmware update. Nokia 5800 and N97 users were disappointed as 5530 is the cheapest among three but still only 5530 has new improved homescreen and kinetic scrolling. Both Nokia N97 and 5800 got firmware update recently N97 got kinetic scroling , but no such implementation in case of 5800. So now it seems that Nokia has no plans for adding kinetic scrolling to 5800. However, 5800 users have reported few improvements after updating their firmware which are listed below.

- More free RAM is available than before
- New Ovi Maps v3.01(22)
- Ovi Store software is updated to v1.05(231)
- GPS connects faster than before
- Smoother scrolling through long list

Nice blog, is there any rumor when 5530 gets firmware update? What’s the usual time between updates?
Are there other ways to updating the firmware other than through the Nokia PC Suite?
I don’t own a recent Nokia phone and am curious since I don’t use a PC.
Don’t worry you can do it directly from your phone -
Dial *#0000#. Your current firmware version will be displayed. From that screen, click Options and select Check for updates. The phone will alert you a newer version is available for download.Download the file, select Install and the new firmware will be installed on your phone.
