Nokia N97 Mini Officially Announced – Mini in size as well as features
Nokia N97 Mini is a rumored product from long time and people were making speculations that it will have a smaller 2.9 inch screen same as 5530 and will be cheaper by around €100 than N97.However, in reality N97 mini has a 3.2 inch display and is costlier than original N97.
So, the question is how different is N97 mini from the original N97?

Looks - Nokia N97 Mini is more attractive due to its slim body and metal lining.
Size - As the name suggests, N97 mini is smaller and sleeker than the original model.The body volume is reduced to 75 cc from 88 cc.Thickness of N97 mini is 14.2 mm wheras N97 is 15.9 mm thick.
Display - The reduction in body size is resulted at the expense of screen size.N97 Mini has a smaller 3.2 inch display whereas N97 has iphone size, 3.5 inch display.
Kinetic Scrolling - N97 will have this feature through firmware upgrade but N97 mini will support kinetic scrolling out of the box.
Internal Memory - The phone memory is reduced from huge 32 GB to mere 8GB.
N-GAGE - No mention of N-GAGE support for N97 Mini.
Digital Compass - N97 Mini lacks Digital Compass.
FM Transmitter - No FM Transmitter.
Keyboard - D Pad missing from slider QWERTY Keyboard.
Camera Lens Cover - No camera lens cover this time.
Secondary camera - Lower, 320×240 resolution secondary camera in comparison to 640×480 VGA camera in N97.
Battery - Lower capacity battery offering talk time of 7 hrs against 9.5 hours talk time in Nokia N97.
Price - So, finally you may be expecting that this downgraded version of N97 should be much cheaper than the original one, which is not the case. Actually, N97 Mini is going to launch for an expected price of $642, whereas N97 is available on Amazon for $599

Hi, Bob I agree with you that Mini has navigation keys but my point is that it lacks the more convenient D pad present in N97.It is so easy to navigate using your left hand thumb on N97 D pad. Isn’t it so.
At that price I don’t see it being a hit, maybe at a €100 less.
N 97 mini really sucks!!! Please never dream of buying it!! Dont even take it if u get it for free, U would want to dump it in the garbage within 1 day:( better try those new E series, thyr all worth atleast
